Unless you find solid otter dirthole locations at otter toilets....then a musky lure is your friend.

There is a "unless" or a "but" in everything. Never say never.

To get an otter to move a few feet on a toilet t(o where you want them) lures may help. Other than that I say their use is kind of pointless.

On toilets I have used collected otter scat from other areas and squirted a little shellfish oil on top and got considerable interest from visiting otters.

I don't think anyone mentioned gang setting for them. They travel in multiples. I have often caught more than one in a single location setting. Also, be patient. Don't pull your sets to soon. I had a set where a tree had fallen across a stream. Made 4 body grip sets along the tree where I thought an otter might go through. After almost two weeks of nothing was surprised to find 3 caught otter. Two were caught in a single Belisle. That was a first and last time I ever had that happen.

Just like the other guys say- be patient. They have a large territory and it takes a while to come back sometimes. I usually put three body traps in a row on good stretches of a run or up the back of a dam or crossover. I have gotten three in a row before . Sometimes I think I should have set more traps.

Just passin through

During the rut when trapping toilets you don't need to be very patient. If I don't get action in 3-4 days it probably was a dead toilet.

I have only caught five. Three were in buckets set for coon when I lived at the coast. They went in for chunks of fresh yellowfin tuna. They used to climb into boats at night and rob fresh fish from coolers. They also ate a lot of blue crabs, which I considered using for bait but never did.

I can't imagine having fresh chunks of yellowfin tuna for bait - pretty sure I would be stuck in that bucket.
