Just wondering if it would be worth it to scrape up a few skunks off the road and maybe use for or try to make a draw station for wolf. Or if it would maybe work for something else. They'd have to be buried or covered from above, was thinking of maybe throwing under a pile of good size sticks and logs.
Thoughts?

Ya can't miss fur if yur traps are out somewhere.
Or so I've been told.

I'd pelt them out and draw out essence before before using for wolf.

I will of they're salvagable but the few I've seen the last week or so have been pretty flat.

A good set up for wolf snaring is to dig a depression in the ground in a suitable snaring area.Toss 4 or 5 big beaver carcasses in the depression and cover them with some old logs from the ground in the surrounding area.Leave a few gaps in the cover so ravens can work the bait but not able to clean it up.
Make sure all your snares are in place before constructing the bait site and hauling the bait so as not to get induced bait scent where it should not be (near the snare),
I like between 12 and 20 snares at a wolf jackpot set back at least 50 feet from the bait. You can set cat and fox snares closer in 10 to 15 feet from the bait..When you make a wolf catch just remove the catch-no re setting till next season.
Bring a beaver carcass every time you visit to check, and replace the cover logs if the wolves have removed them

Will try that too Boco thanks...
I was just wondering if I could do something with all the smashed up skunks I see on the road instead of just leaving them out there.

Wont hurt to toss one or two near the baitpile.
The wolves smell skunk all the time at my baitpiles.
Sometimes the bush skunks make a winter den right under the baitpile,I have seen them out here in december eating on the frozen bait.
Skunks are similar to bears in their hibernating behaviour. If they have a food supply they wont hibernate until very late in the season,or until there is no more food.
In years past if I was short of bait I would place a dried full pair of skunk pods in a screened box in a spruce and set snares like a jackpot.Wolves will check out the skunk smell but if there is no bait they wont return.

I had a skunk in a bucket of water for a few moths and put it in a dirt hole with cameras in June. It attracted fox and coyote and bear and deer and house cats and everything else for several months. I added BTO to the hole hoping to get a little bigger flavor profile and long lasting smell.
Thinking I’d hit the jackpot I’ve done it two more times this summer with almost no reaction at different spots. I have a bucket of skunk soaking right now..
I would have thought cold weather would be the ticket but this was all summer. Regardless, I’ll try again. If nothing else it’s a real curiosity spot. That’s my plan for road kill skunks.

There's still a good market for tails regardless of the time if year.

For this tail market, do I split and dry or strip and pack it full of borax?
Haven't explored anything past the normal skinning and drying of entire pelts.

Pull the bone out. Split the tail. Flesh and dry.
Just like all pelt tails.
