Anything there worth seeing ?

Gonna head to Tampa Florida for a week or so in jan/Feb 2027

Thinking about a pit stop in san Antonio to watch the scheduled Supercross rnd 4 .

Could stay a day or two there if there's something to see or do

Then onto Florida where we will also watch rnd 5 of the Supercross series

The wife wants sit on the beach in Florida and watch the waves.

This plan should keep me from excessive wave watching ( I'm good after 15 minutes )

So far she's good

Spent a few days at a conference down there some years back. Alamo was worth a look. The wife would likely enjoy the Riverwalk area…

The riverwalk is a common thing to see but pretty neat. The spanish governors palace is another. Trolleys will take you around to see the sights.

The Alamo is within waking distance of the River Walk and the Plaza Market. Lots of good food and cheep souvenirs.
The zoo is good and so is Sea World where the poor "abused" whales show great affection for their handlers and then passive / aggressively take the chance to splash everyone with in about 3 rows of the tank.
The micro habitats are my favorite

If you are a sushi fan there is a very non descript (from the outside) place that is fast, delicious, and not even expensive. Off course tacos are easy to come by in SA and most ppl speak English when you are paying.

All in all I am not a fan of big cities but San Antonio is close enough that I know my way around it.

On the river walk there is a restaurant where you are invited to insult the staff. Do it because they will take the opportunity to insult you such as taking your wifes order, looking at you and asking what does your grandpa want?

You'd have to duck duck go the name of it but we had a buddies batchlour party there and it was fun. Pub / bar food type menu & outdoor seating by the waters edge.

Castroville has probably the best canteena in the Hill County & south Texas! Not a bad drive on the way into SA from the west

The tower of the Americas is also a need place to get a high view if you're not flying in.

The Alamo was smaller than I expected and the River Walk was nice.

If you want you can do a boat ride on the riverwalk, the Tower of the Americas is also there. Gives a a pretty cool view from 750 feet up. The Alamo won't take long to see inside.

I don't know when they hang the Christmas lights but the river walk is quite a sight when they do. Just take a pocket pistol with you if you're gonna be out past about 11

Food is great. Also a good place to get top-notch cowboy boots. Visit the Luchessee Store on the Riverwalk.

I think you are right thar name sounds familiar.

My buddy had a fairly feminine looking friend from college. He apparently like women as we saw later that enening but he wore some white denim skinny jeans and looked a little suspect. The waiter found out it was Chris's batchlour party and roasted Chris about his choice of pole dancers. It was hilarious anything Chris might say to defend himself the waiter would throw his hands up saying I dont judge you. We laughed until our sides hurt and left a huge tip on the table.
