I figured it might be Bot fly grubs... may need to Ivomec the coons...

It is gonna be a pain to build a pen to hold them, and an alley to drive them down....

Dave..you have seen em in squirrels and rabbits that are killed too early in the fall I am sure, I have never seen warbles in coons and never after hard frost in anything....

Never argue with a fool - they will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

those are probably the larvae of the heel fly. heel flies usually lay their eggs on the back of cows and calves legs in the spring . the eggs hatch and the larvae burrow through the hair follicle and migrate through the body to the back. there they cut a breathing hole in the skin and stay until they are mature. they come out of the skin and fall to the ground where they stay until they stay until they become a fly

Warble must be a different term for a maggot. Around here we call bot fly or any other fly larvae a maggot. My mistake. Yes I have seen them in squirrels and rabbits on wounds and we always called them maggots. Kind of like the east cost folks say there going into the woods, the midwest guy calls it the timber and the Alaskan says its the bush. All different words for the same meaning.
