I don't like to call coyotes when I'm alone in lion country. Never seen one while calling but they are such good hiders it would be easy not too. Have heard of bears coming in too. Another animal that can be amazingly hard to hear or see.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

I've got family living in the Colville & Kettle Falls area the last time I was out there they all warned me about walking anywhere in the early morning or evening because the mtn lions were getting thicker and causing problems back then, because hound hunting was stopped imagine that.
I'm glad that no one was hurt.

If that kids life was ever in danger he'd be dead.

So another predator bites the dust..nowadays lions and bears are considered big game animal's here in the western states with many different groups trying to protect them but all in all they are a predator and they need to be controlled and delt with accordingly

Yep and then dad finishes it off and imeaditly takes off for the taxidermist with it

Just saying something doesn’t smell right to me, maybe everything is up and up but to me the story just sounds how hinky

Fear of humans is an inheritable genetic trait and can also be learned. When predators are not hunted, predators that are not genetically fearful of humans and that have not learned to be fearful of humans do well on the abundance of food close to people and produce more non-fearful predators. Predators need to be hunted for human safety.

If it wasn't tribal, WDFW would have confiscated the animal and would have charged the father.

You sound just like the stereotypical metro type Minnesotan, that's been drinking a little too much of the coolaid. I don't know why they are protected here...we don't have lion habitat here, so we should be able to kill them out of hand.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

Why because I believe in following the law even when I don’t think it is right, and I wil bet you he was not the one who reported it but most likly the taxidermist

Frankly I hate when some judge that know nothing about the subject overrides those that do at the bequest of a grouping that uses feeling to set policy and not sound science

And furthermore if it did happen as the story goes then the young lady should be give quidos for a job well done but I still find it suspicious that the dad took it to the taxidermist and did not notify F/G

Now maybe he did not know he should so well and good it is just that I hate those that break game laws wither it is shooting a deer out of season taking a gross over limit of fish or trapping out of season

Are there reasons to do so yes I would let it go if someone was trying to feed their family or protecting life or even property but that’s about it not because they have some Macho kick from it or thrill
