I have a D handle one like thad DaveP, bought at TSC the first year I got my license after I saw it on a video (I think Coonin' by Probst). It is short handled and sees a lot of use. This new one has a serrated blade for cutting roots and should lever apart beaver dams well.

Alan, I have thought many time about cutting one down but I don't really use dirt holes as I thought I would and they are too useful at full size for me.

I bought one there last year. Same price i believe.
They’re also a great source for those slim sharp box nails used for putting up beaver.
You can usually find them in the surplus section.
