I snared a coyote yesterday that had another snare on it. What's strange is there was no frayed cable. It was cut right up against the lock. Someone must be driving around with a cable cutter releasing coyotes.

Sounds like it worked well for you. It goes to show how stupid some people are. Why would they leave the cable on one, if they were going to release it. Maybe someone thought they had it dead and cut the cable and had it run off. But at least they didn't have to fight blood in the fur. smile But like I said it worked well for you.

Caught one this year that I would assume had been back hip snared at some point (takes a heck of a loop size to do that!) Had a scar all the way around the body in front of the back hips. Pretty coyote so I tried to skin it just to tan, ripped right in 2 along that scar line. Kept the front 3/4s to tan! smile

I lost one a few weeks ago and the cable was cut clean with no signs of anything but the coyote. I doubt it was any body cutting the cable and think more perhaps a weak spot?

Snare might have broken off at the ferrule

Not sure how one would get close enough to a live coyote to cut it out of a snare and specially up close to the lock?

Tell him to hold still. I have release them out of foot hold without a pole alone.

I like kill spring, it sticks out easy to cut snare if you need to

You're not an average man... laugh

My preferred method of release...
