My Grand dad was a Trapper in the early 1900s and my dad trapped thru the 1930s right up to when he died in 74 he was a muskrat trapper with all long springs and jumps back then So for me raising two sons to chase and always respect critters was imperative
They started off with woodchucks and rabbits and eventually as they got older started chasing fox and coyotes it was great to watch them as they learned and grew into very sound Trappers there were alot of frozen fingers along the way couldnt take either one
water trapping without them becoming soaked everytime I remember back when my oldest was around 4 and chasing a garden raiding woodchuck he [Linked Image]

asked where he should put the trap and i said to him be the animal and try to think where hes gonna walk
and put the trap there. Well there all grown up now and dont need me hovering over them while there setting traps My oldest has been catching alot of fur on his upstate line this year and just before the last cold front he took a pile of coyotes and sent me the picture
being a fox trapper ive never taken that many in one day and just asked if he was using 2 traps at each set he said no Dad just trying to be the animal and think where there gonna walk..................priceless

Very cool!
Was at my son’s house today for a granddaughters birthday party. He’s into the coyote live market. He had 29 trotting around his pen in front of his house.

I always wondered why such a high percentage of trappers sons don’t trap. Is that just in these parts or is that something that is everywhere?

Bob, nice pictures.

I see 3 gray fox on the tailgate.

I grew up about 10 miles east of Utica, NY. When I was in my 20's most of the fox I caught were grays. Was just wondering the other day how many might be left in some areas.
