How far will beaver travel overland looking for new home? Someone brought one for me to
skin. He shot it at his house, 2 miles from the nearest water

I seem to recall transplant records for some Oregon beaver that had traveled quite a ways from the transplant spot when eventually caught some years later. I wanna say maybe 25-30 miles? How big of beaver was it? Dispersal age is usually around 1--2 years of age. L-XL sizes

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

That is about the right weight for a dispersing juvenile that is probably coming up on its second birthday soon.

Watch out for beaver that are up on land in spring.
They are extremely agressive if you get them cornered.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I've caught 2 over the years in dirthole sets made for coyote/bcats on logging roads...there was no water within at least several hundred yds....this was up in the dry pine woodlands.

You bet! There’s a heck of a story behind this pic. They bought me beaver PJs after my incident.

I have experienced this myself and the beaver was not cornered. As I approached it, it did an about face and came at me at a pace I was not prepared to deal with. I got back in my vehicle and left him to continue his travels.

On another note, I read somewhere that a dispersing beaver was radio tracked and it traveled some 55 miles before it settled in.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!
