Looks like an old Winchester maybe? Yes it is a 1939 Winchester model 70 in 30-06. The "pre-war" model 70's weren't drilled in the rear bridge for a scope so they used a Stith mount that uses the front sight groove and the receiver sight holes in the back on the left side. Inside the mounts sits a 2.5X Lyman Alaskan with a post, likely all 1939 vintage. This rifle also has a Tilden safety for use with the scope as the original "wing" safety under the scope is difficult to access. Last edited by 160user; 10/04/23 07:48 AM. Thanks Ill be hunting some whitetails this season with about the same year Remington 30 express in 257 Roberts. I like using them old rifles too.
