New video about native asters versus garden mums.

The native fall blooming asters in the genus Symphyotrichum are an excellent replacement for the non-native garden mums that are so popular in the fall. Unlike mums, the native asters are host plants for dozens of moth and butterfly caterpillars and support many species of pollen specialist native bees. Additionally the native asters are incredibly hardy and require little care after they become established.

Hope you enjoyed it!

Thanks for watching,
Anthony

Very nice, Anthony.

I didn't know the Asters are a similar good replacement for mums. How can it be better, than to have a native flower return on its own every year to enjoy ?

And helping honey bees is always a huge plus.

Thank you for the nice share.

Thanks Sharon and Hobbie Trapper! The old fields on our farm are covered in white fall asters right now and the pollinators are all over them.
