I have 4 traps that have been laying around the shop. 1 small one, 2 mid size (Oneida) and one large 35 longx8tallx11 across the bait pan. The chain is 17” from the trap to end of anchor circle. How do I clean them up? I don’t want to damage the value. What is the big one? Value? I have no need of them. [Linked Image]

You have an early newhouse #5 bear trap. The 2 holes in the pan will hurt the value some also the springs should have the Newhouse stamp and if readable will work in your favor. Best not to clean it at all as it will be easy to sell just the way it is. Not knowing if the spring stamps are readable make it tough to value but I’m guessing $800-$1200. I’ve seen them go for more but those were near perfect condition. Post pictures of the other traps if you can.

It is too dusty to make out any identifiable information.

The 5 is the value
The others are not worth much

Thank you for the info. I have been really busy with SW Oregon spring bear hunts, and just got a day or two to rest and recover. You all have been a great help.
