I doubt those are worm harnesses. We used to use something very similar to what you show, years ago. While I'm sure it's not the correct name, we referred to them as "strip-ons." We used to put medium-sized chubs on them, clamped by the head, and then one part of the treble hook in the body of the chub, just ahead of the tail. We trolled with them for northern pike and walleye.

Doesn't the minnow harness have just a split double hook on the end so it can be easily removed so the wire can be ran end for end of a minnow and the hook can then be replaced which holds the minnow on the harness. I remember my dad calling them strip ons. Which used for trolling.

Have seen different styles of minnow harnesses over the years. The strip ons we used back in the day on Mns Mille Lacs Lk was thin wire with a flattened loop on the hook end with a couple of red beads and a spinner blade at the front. The hook loop was fed into minnows mouth thru body and out anal hole then a double hook was attached thru loop barbs up and hook pulled into body. Back when good lake shiners were a commonly available bait many walleye were caught this way. With the decline and cost of shiners moving fisherman to fathead minnows and leeches they lost their favor. We DIYed smaller strip one for the smaller fatheads for some years but than jigging became the new hot presentation. The “Prescott spinner” was another style of minnow harnesses popular way back where the extra long shank single on a wire shafted spinner was inserted shiners mouth out one gill and hook barb back thru body just in front of tail. This clunky rig was most often drifted from boat dragging on the sand bottom spinner slapping along behind a two ounce sinker. Obviously a presentation before the coming of the In Fisherman’s finesse fishing movement. Been many years and many fish from black braided line on level wind reels(without freespooling or anti reverse) to fluorocarbon on muti- ball bearing spinning reels on boron rods.

I've learned enough thru the years to now know that I don't know enough. KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM.

I've used them with small frogs.

Love is to me like you slide the brass barrel forward to remove treble hook. Then thread wire through minnow and replace hook, clamp minnow head. Much like the old strip ons.
