Wolf dog get a study bible, my wife has one nlt bible. It's a big help, I have king james and if I don't really comprehend what im reading i pull hers out and look at it, hers is half page of reading bottom half going verse by verse explaining what you read. However that is someone else's interpretation but gives you some easier reading context that is in today's language and gives you a better understanding so you can form your own interpretation.

One of the most modern translations that some use is the "The Message" My current Bible is NLT Live Application study Bible. The one Used for a couple decades prior to that was a New King James translation study Bible. I don't recall all the translations prior to the NKJ, but many were the Revised Standard. We all know and meet different people in our lives. The Athiests I know or have known did not spend a lot of time ripping on God in our conversations. When people are polled they find a lot. lot more people that have a belief in God then there are those who feel a strong faith in religion. Maybe we have done a very poor job of carrying the message and have turned people away from organized religion. Is it our preaching or the way we live our lives that many find objectionable.

Unfortunately, the bible is not actually a book that reads like a how to or a plot. It is a collection of writings that can be interpreted in many ways, hence all the differing Christian denominations. The Ten Commandments are at least written rules of the road. I find reading most of it extremely boring. Especially, the begat sections.

Yes, the Bible is a tough read at times. A person has to be careful where they get there independent info from. A lot of places water down the Bible to fit there own agenda.

I don’t believe their are many true atheists. I think there are a lot of agnostics.

To understand the Bible, a person needs to study the whole Bible. Pick and choosing versus leads to misinterpreting and that is dangerous. God is a very loving God, but as he said, vengeance is his.
