As the title says how long does the scent from fish oil & gusto last when trapping for marten. & how often should I reapply? The bait (chunk or fit off beaver) is still there. Should I replace or add to that too? It's been bout a week.
Thanks

Ya can't miss fur if yur traps are out somewhere.
Or so I've been told.

Every two weeks if your getting a little rain or snow. If you cannot smell it, add some. You should be able to smell the Gusto from a distance. Put the Gusto up high or on your attractor if you are allowed. Don't put the oil to close to the traps. Try to keep both off of the Marten as well as pitch from the tree's. You can smear some berry paste on the beaver if you want. Keep the beaver you have. Beaver does not smell that strong. I would keep the beaver meat all season. Look for rodent droppings inside your box if you are using one. You want them in there eating the bait. You want live bait behind the trap when they arrive. Hot red meat, what every marten wants.

If you are under a short season, then put as much lure as you want. Over doing it will only cost you money. It will not drive the marten away. Pull the lure after the season to keep the bears off your sets.
Good luck.

My Super Wide will pull your broken down 4 stroke, up a hill backwards, with you on it!

I used Gusto for about 20 years up in Alaska for wolverine and marten. Even though I usually re-applied every visit, (which could be as long as 7 days), depending on weather, (sometimes days of rain, or extreme cold), I probably didn't need to.
I had sets that I could smell Gusto months after I pulled traps!
If you can smell it, the critters sure can.

Just doing what I want now.
