Put a batch of steel cut oats and wild rice in oven last night. Added a handful of this and that. Looking good and smelling great this morning.

I have overnight oats most every morning. I'll do 5 pint jars on Sunday . My recipe is 1/2 cup quick oats 1/2 c protein powder and 5 tbs instant breakfast. Fill jar with milk. refrigerate . been doing that for several years.

I make steel cut oats in the crock pot.

2 TBL vanilla extract
1 cup cranberries
1 cup currents
1/2 cup maple syrup
3 hours on low

I've never eaten anything like that. Is it a regular meal or more like a dessert?

Do you eat it cold or heat it up? Not sure I want cold oatmeal. @AKA

Mine is actually steel cut oats rather than rolled or other processed type. Supposed to be a lot slower release of carbs/sugar. I eat it hot.

the overnight oats I am familiar with , you put your oats often steel cut into a thermos , with hot water and seal it up and they are hot and cooked in the morning.

your only heat expenditure is to bring the water to a boil at night

I have also hear of a variety of hull less oats that lose the chaf at thrashing so they are ready to use

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
