TV purchase trouble..Story time
Our flat screen TV got bumped other day cracked screen. Picture went all haywire. Wife goes online to Walmart finds one she like orders it. That was on the 24th said delivery by end of day on 26th. Now that seem fairly reasonable being that Walmart is just hair over mile down road. Could have picked it up easy enough myself, I said let them carry it to our door.
Then it begins.
26th comes no TV wife calls late evening was told order delayed. Be out tomorrow morning 27th no problem. 27th late afternoon no TV so wife calls again. Has some guy on phone is on speaker so I hear him too. Says I just put that unit out on truck myself for delivery. Should be there next 30 minutes or so. Yay think I can drive there in less that 5 minutes. So we wait and no TV on 27th.. huh dealing with a liar. Of course wife calls again gets some AI deal tells her order delayed 48hours not yet eligible to be canceled?? What? Me Im like have they taken payment on that yet? Wife checks bank saying payment pending.. I said call bank stop payment tell stuff TV where sun doesn't shine.
Wife say cost money stop payment cant do that on Sunday. I will call customer service again on Monday.
Okay more patient than me.
Monday comes no TV before noon so wife calls again. Gets a real person on phone. Is told once again I just put that order on truck 10 minutes ago. Should be delivered within hour??
Thank You very much.
Of course no TV was delivery on Monday 29th. Boy long story just for dang TV.
So yesterday 30th had an appointment with vet get dog up to date on shot.
Of course on way there and back drive right by Walmart. On way home wife says swing into Walmart going to go talk with them folks.
I said your more polite more patient. I will wait in car with dogs. Im exhausted just watching her deal with it.
So what happened???
Wife comes out with TV in cart.
Im not sure I'm buy the story store manager told her.
Apparently because of the Holiday. Store was using Ubers for some of the closer delivery. He said the two TVs that we were told had been put out for delivery were both stolen. Some how the Uber Drivers were showing the oder as canceled after they picked up the package for delivery??? He said he was in contact with corporate trying to sort out a mess. Had never happen before and he was trying to get it all straightened out. Oh boy.
Im wonder if it was really happening or his way of blowing us off. Maybe didn't want to admit his customer service person just told us it was out to blow us off??
We are not unreasonable. Understand things get delayed. Just tell us the truth if its stuck on slow boat from China.

I thought wife was maybe getting scammed. If that manager was making up story. Seems to me Walmart got scammed.

Thats my TV story of the day.

Whole another long story having to go online getting TV to work.
Couple hours lost to for our TV viewing pleasure.

That excuse sounds reasonable, but who knows.

I know here, amazon often has people in their private cars delivering packages..

Pretty hard to disguise a TV, so maybe temptation won....

walmart and curb side pick up or delivery or order to store , seems weird

we found there were stadium seats that if purchased online and picked up curbside were like 10 dollars less than the ones in the store.
seemed odd I couldn't walk in the store and buy them but they work I use them on the bench seats in the boat and take them out and store them in the truck while not using them.
that way I can have the seat when setting , fold and move when I want to stand on the bench as a casting deck
my boat has wide benches

I suspect they do these things as loss leaders to develop the curb side and order to store logistics and later they will charge more for this stuff when they have people hooked

Rarely order from walmart but when we did it would come fedx. The last few times it has been random methheads in their personal vehicles. After the first delivery I told my wife make sure and not use that option but she said there is no choice. So my main problem with walmarts new way of delivering is that they come at night. Not a good idea to be pulling up to someones house after dark in a rural area. The last time the wife got a text about fifteen seconds before they pulled up. I've later learned walmart has a contract with some other company and that company contracts with individuals to make the deliveries. Problem solved by no longer ordering anything from walmart. If I can't just pick it up at the store then I don't really need it. Oh, and I'm not expected to tip fedx or ups drivers.

a lot of the amazon deliveries are coming after dark now also , usually in a amazon truck but some in budget rental vans

the drivers have very little experience and can't read the parcel barrel outside my fence so they toss packages over the gate to the dogs

my dogs will open packages , which is why there is a well labeled barrel outside the gate.

a couple times I am getting a call from the driver , which I appreciate that they just tossed a package over the gate and the dog has it now , I say look right , see the barrel , they read the address and packages and say ohh shoot , and I go out and get my package before the dogs do much to it.

I don't want anyone inside my gate it is latched for a reason.

That's what I'm saying. Now when you order from walmart there is a place for you to check and leave a tip for the delivery person.

The private company that's delivering for wal mart here is called Spark. If you order groceries, household supplies or about anything and want it delivered it's going to brought by a private vehicle that does that.
The reason I know this is some people where I work do it on the side before or after they go to work and on the weekends. The guy I work with his wife does it and he told me she made a little over $20K this year part time around her job. And yes she does get tipped at times from people. I have thought of doing it myself as I had most of my overtime at my job cut.

Last Jan or Feb. I ordered a HI Vis coat online from walmart.com. I think it was $29 on clearance. If I ordered over I think it was $50 I got free shipping so I ordered a cheap $25 dollar zebco combo. I was going to get one anyway at some point. I get an email that the fishing pole would be delivered that day a Sunday. I live about 2 miles from Walmart. Sure enough I get another email that afternoon it was on it's way. The jacket was sent from a warehouse somewhere but the pole came from in town delivered by one of those spark drivers.

Did you order the TV directly from Walmart it or was it a third party seller?

Spark is a sub-company of walmart.

No the wife was on Walmart .com but on the page for store down the roads. I don't use it myself if need a something she orders. She has had things shipped and we have done pick up orders. Guess when she orders it say from store or ware house??
The manager told her the problem was some extra people they hired just for the holiday rush. Wasn't part of their regular shipping people they use. I guess the statement was they weren't Ubers. But like ubers.
Either way they drove off with TV was suppose to come here.
