I have troubles using cubbies or similar sets with eye attractions. I have caught more cats in dirt holes than any set if the weather permits. Some of my sets are pre made before season so I don't have to deal with chopping frozen ground here in Minnesota.

Cameras on my sets limit what movement attractors I can use unless I can block them from triggering the cameras or put them off to the sides of the cams. The cubby is also an attraction on its own even the ones I leave out get attention, the cats seem to need to check them out.

Shot a few collard doves the other day for bait (invasive species) hung a couple wings in the brush out of line of the cams it’s working so far.

I use a silver bird scare tape, one with what look like prisms. It seems to work well, comes on a roll like flagging tape and is made of mylar I believe. It moves in the slightest breeze and with the prisms, reflects light really well.

Trail cameras and fresh snow have broke a lot of trapper’s hearts.

I'm like Bob Jameson in that I used to think a visual attractant was needed every set but I found that the better i got at reading the funnels and choke points the less I needed any of that.

I do have a tip for yall tho. Instead of fishing line and swivels use light gauge wire. Secure a measure of it to your branch or post and another to you wing or feather. Where you join the 2, do it with equal sized intersecting loops then bend each loop out of round into triangle shapes. Instead of the twirling motion you will get a wobble that actally looks like a bird wings movement. If you try it you will become a believer.
