Lee, you were both at the 2013 Trapperman Breakfast at the Farm Kitchen here in Sauk County, but I can't find a photo of him. Maybe someone else will come up with one!

Don’t have one. After a bunch of conventions and trapping trips we traveled together I wish I did.

I am in the same boat as Lee. I am sure I have seen him at conventions but can't put a face to the name. In any event, thoughts for his family and may he rest in peace.

The devil's greatest trick isn't making us think he doesn't exist. It's flattering us. So we don't see..... the devil is us.

Sad news for sure, RIP, Jim.

As mentioned Jim was an expert carpenter, I know he did some high end cabinet jobs on expensive yachts for some very demanding customers Jobs that would take months to complete.. Very talented woodworker. Also mentioned, he was an very good rock climber, He always talked about his trips out west rock climbing on the Wind River Range in Wyoming.

I found this image on a MN rock climbing site. It's not the best.

I know Jim scales Devils Tower several times plus many other routes inwest. I'm sure he told me once he climbed the highest peak in the lower 48.

I have only been able to find a death notice for Jim , no obituary

Good find Steve. Jim didn’t spend a lot of time sitting on the couch until he got sick.

Little memory about Jim, I don't remember the year, I'd say 2009. Up until that point I hadn't ever caught 1000 muskrats in the winter. It was mid-February and I was sitting at about 915 rats for the ice season and had basically run out of good spots up here. Jim said come on down and trap the lake he was on. Needless to say I made my goal with room to spare. Not many people would do that!

Rest in peace buddy.

Jim got me started ice trapping muskrats invited me out to the lakes he was on. Rats were worth good money then . Kind had forgotten how nice it was of him to do that Remember at a convention in Lima,Ohio at the camping area some kid was riding in the back of a pickup and probably had been over served and he fell out and his head hit the ground hard. Jim was the first one to run to the kid and prop him up until an ambulance came. That was Jim.

It is very respectful and a great way to remember Jim and to honor his life. Sharing stories of your experiences with Jim tells us alot about the man. I would have liked to have known him and to have shared some time or just to say that I knew him.

I don't believe I knew Jim, but I can tell from what I have read and learned he would have been very easy to become a good friend.

Thank you all for sharing and giving us all a look into Jim the trapper and Jim the mans life. I don't think there can be a better tribute to someone than talking about them and sharing some stories and personal experiences.
