I’ve noticed some changes in lure quality or maybe lure consistency might be closer to what I’m seeing/hearing. A couple weeks ago a fan favorite people had noticed changes in it, lighter in color was a thing folks noticed and the strength was in question also. One thing might of influenced the other. After thinking about that I check an unopened bottle that I thought was way lighter in color when I got it. It has since darkened some closer to the original appearance so was it not aged properly or a change in the ingredients that impacted it?

I try one or two different lures every year this year it was a couple 4 ounce cat lures I’ve never tried yet. So I finally get the jar open man it was tough with these beat up old hands. It’s 5 above and I can’t get a decent amount to stay on a stick it just dripped right off my fear is it would fall off before I get it in the cubby landing where I don’t want it. Normally I’d drop a cotton ball in that type of lure but I did not have my bag with me it’s a 1 set walk in set.

I read up on the lure discrimination and it’s listed as a thick paste that kind of seemed odd thick was not a term I’d use this stuff would pour out of a Boston round bottle no problem thick I think not. So is it quality ingredient issues, lack of availability of ingredients, rushed bottling less aging after mixing or cost cutting measures?

Thinking about either adding cotton balls to the wide mouth jar to pluck out, putting it in a Boston round bottle and pouring it out at the sets like a liquid lure or adding skunk grease to it.

Any thoughts on the best way to go?

If you can get a big syringe, ideally the type they use to worm horses, just fill that up and leave it in a ziplock

I watched a utube video the other day, and the guy was cage trapping Bobcats.
He was using old garden hose about 3-4 " inches long with a nail poked threw the top
so it would stay up and not fall threw the wire.
Put sheep wool in it and pour the lure in it.

Good idea thought

Let me sugar coat this

Like that tip trapr! As for the lures i know some are not being aged before being sold as they should so i suspect other's are not what they once were either.

It’s 22 degrees here now. I was able to pour it through a funnel with a opening that just fits inside a Boston round 4oz bottle never needed to spoon any of it out I did need to jiggle the setup to break the vacuum but that was minimal. The jar is sitting upside down in the funnel to recover as much as I can I hope it doesn’t dump over a lose the whole shebang.

After some thought I figured the Boston round bottle would be the least messy in the field trying to pour out of a 4 oz jar is sloppy.

I have always used a film canister with a wick through the bottom. Filled it up wool and lure and hung it above the set, works great
