I use cheap ones from Amazon that beep if the freezer gets too warm inside. You can spend about as much as you want to. I had 9 freezers when I bought mine so cost was a consideration.

I have one of the temp sensors in my deep freezer in the basement and the other in my fridge freezer up stairs. The display unit is magnetic and I have it stuck to the side of the fridge upstairs. It is able to get the signal from the downstairs freezer while upstairs, which is what I was worried about. You need to use lithium batteries to make sure it continues to work in the cold. If I recall they send some with the unit, otherwise you can buy the Energizer Lithiums. Still on the original batteries.

good thing my aunt stopped by his house and left him some freezer stuff , she didn't get the door closed all the way and he had a warning in about an hour. threw out some of the stuff that she left but saved all his own stuff.

I can ask him brand tomorrow
