My inside the house wood stove will heat the house whether we have electric power available or not. That is a big factor for me.

We have been burning wood for near 40 years now using an Amish Hitzer wood stove in our living room. We have a log home so it is a basic open room home design. Only doors are on the bedrooms and bathrooms.

With a commercial overhead fan we can circulate the heat nicely. We have a back up propane furnace if needed but rarely use it.

Hard to beat a good wood heat source stove. It certainly is more work than using a thermostat type heat but not what I like or wanted. We like a cooler bedroom for sleeping. Just close the door a little and that stove heat stays in the living area.

We can live off grid the way the house is designed, including the well, and with our generator.

What’s the cleaning time on that gasification unit? I’ve heard the cleaning time is the issue with those.
