Many years ago I bought boards from Craig Todaro. My friend tells me he is no longer making boards. I really enjoyed fleshing, and boarding beavers this year and now am going to be putting up mink, muskrat, and beaver again. My question is considering muskrat and mink do I really need 3 different sizes for muskrat and mink. I do have wire stretchers but like using boards.
All my muskrat boards are 6” “standard”
Mink boards are considered female and large

I wouldn`t put mink on wire. I beleave they do better at sales on boards. Maskrat I put on wire.

I have 4 mink boards. 2 female and 2 male but as I look on top lot website it shows 3 sizes for rats and 3 sizes for mink. All my muskrat boards are standard. Do you think I need all 3 sizes for each? What are y’all doing?

Most of my rat boards are splits. I like em.

For rats and mink, I use a hybrid stretcher…..wire with a coroplast insert. Slide hide over the wire, and use push pins for the skirt end and tail.

When I trapped mink min Southeast Alaska, I had, and needed, 3 sizes for mink. Female/small board for probably 70% of female mink. Large for the fat females and young males, then XL for most adult males, however I also had a few homemade boards for extremely fat males. We would catch some males that were huge, almost like little otters. Those suckers would never dry completely, even after removing the saddle and all fat, and were still greasy after wiping daily for 2 weeks. Endless supply of fall and early winter salmon will do that.
Sorry it's so blurry, but you get the point.

Most of the boards in my shed are from Craig. Bought them around 2005 I believe. Super nice guy and made a great basswood stretcher. I’ve stretched a lot of rats on the nose of my coon boards, they turn out much better than wire.
