About 5 weeks ago or so I noticed a few bucks in the alfalfa. I also noticed one never left the field and started watching him. We was walking in circles with head down. I called DNR and GW came out to observe the muley. He was in great shape heavy muscled up and have a very impressive velvet set of horns for being so early.

Today I texted the Warden to see what came of the deer. He said he eventually took it down and said it had a broken part of horn and was infected terribly. They figure it had a brain abscess and infection with a very high fever. As soon as the glands are tested he would contact me with their finding. Doesn't believe CWD or anything else but that terrible infected horn at skull.

A sad day to hear that but nature is nature.

It would be sadder still to find CWD

Time will tell. Said infection was really bad with the broken horn. He said they get calls and injured deer get infection and it s the cause of death. He said 4 had broadheads that never exited the body and had to be killed from them dying of infection. That was Vet's autopsy report.

We will see what the verdict is when they get it done.
