Story Time.
About 15 years ago grandma came over and handed me that key. She said I want you to have this. I looked and said whats the USN mean. She said US Navy, her dad was on the US San Diego. The only US ship that sank in WW1. It sank just outside of NY harbor. Possible land mine. Possible sub. They went with the landmine story b/c they didn't want a sub off the east coast story. Anyway he treaded water for a few hours before they got rescued. That is the key to his foot locker on the ship at the bottom that he had in his pants pocket while he treaded water. I found this picture of him on the internet and showed my grandmother a picture of her father that she had never seen before. She thought that was amazing that I could do that.

I have every letter he sent home from the war. His mom saved them. That would have been my Great Great Grandmother. They all start out My Dearest Mother or some such thing. Thought you would enjoy.

If you check out that key on the bottom of that key ring... thats my family key ring from years back... I think thats dads car key to his 64 Mercury Comet in Highschool.

289 four barrel 3/4 speed stick convertible. He sold it to go to Vietnam and when he came back he bought it back from the guy that only hauled it on a trailer to drag strips.

FYI: Those envelopes with the stamps are worth a few bucks to a collector.
