I posted a while back about buying a cylinder/piston kit for my 450e. I got lots of good advice about not buying the kit from Amazon and buying better parts. I wasn't so confident in my ability to get things put back together so I bought it. I got the jug, piston, spark plug bearing for the rod, all the gaskets, etc. for about $50.

Finally got everything put together today and it runs like a top. Even cut some wood with it. If it fails me, I'll be the first to post that it did so.

When the parts showed up, I went over them with my micrometers every which way and they were spot on.

Curious though, why does an original Husky saw have a Chinese carb? If the Chinese can make every single part in a Husqvarna saw... how did they learn that? Has Husqvarna been using Chinese parts for years?

Let me know what you think.

Pete

not sure if Husky had some parts made in Chicom or not but they copy older Stihl saws also.

they get ahold of them and figure out how to make them or some aftermarket parts place hires them to make a batch of pistons and jugs and next thing they are making them under 5 other names sold direct from Chicom.

They use chainsaws in China also so they make a supply of parts and they make saws for export also. I think much of the non US, Can , EU world is running Chinese saw copies for the majority of their saws.

I have a cousin with a tree service that runs a bunch of Chinese saws some Husky clones some Stihl top handle clones , he is like when you can buy 10 saws for 900 dollars or 2 saws for 900s dollars , things like dripping them out of a tree or you have an issue , just grab another and get back to work. he is also not likely to spend a lot of time on preventative maintenance , if it isn't broke he isn't going to give it 5 minutes of time.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Chinese do a lot of reverse engineering on things, hence the Stihl clone saws. Probably the same thing on the husky.

The Chinese are very poor at making original products. They steal much of what they make. Their brains and culture are not creative like ours. US companies, like Proctor & Gamble expect to get no useful research and development from Chinese and Japanese workers, without 6 years of intense training. They can be brilliant, but can't think outside the box, on their own. Once trained, they can be very useful.
