Got a question... after you take fur off the strecther, what is the best way to store it until you want to ship it or sell? lay it flat? or keep hung?

but it in a bread bag and put it in a freezer. Just don't put more than 2 pelts in a bag at a time!

yeah I've always just hung them once strechted and dried, but didnt know if it would be better to lay them flat out or not. I know I'm not fitting no coon or fox into a bread bag...

These are strecthed and dried, no rolling them and putting them in a bread bag. MY Question is should I keep them hung up after taking them off the strecther or lay them flat out...

I'm only trying to help......when you put the pelt in the freezer it preserves it.

Hang in a cool, dry place, out of any direct sun. It will be fine for quite awhile. Periodicaly check for any oil/grease that may appear, and wipe down as needed. That's all.
Just doing what I want now.

I wipe the grease off before putting them in a fur bag. Dont have the room to lay them flat I cram as many as possible in to a nafa bag.

I like wrapping mine in newspaper, then stacking flat. First I wipe off any extra grease/oil then roll/wrap in a sheet or two of newspaper. This will absorb quite a bit more grease and I may change the wrap once or twice and wipe them off another time or two before actually shipping/selling them.

Once they're dry and off the stretcher I hang them up to save space. Shouldn't matter if you lay them flat or hang up, just keep them where the mice can't get to the hides too easy.
