I was wondering if any of you have some good potato soup recipes.
I want to make some this Friday during Lent instead of cabbage
and noddles. I haven't had any good potato soup since my mother
past away 5yrs ago. should have payed attention when she made it.

you are in luck!! best potato soup ever!! and easy too...

6 to 8 large baking potatoes
2 cups milk
4 cups chicken broth
2/3 cup flour
2/3 cup butter
8-12 strips bacon, cooked
1 cup sour cream
8 oz. cheddar cheese, shredded
salt and pepper to taste

Bake potatoes until soft, then peel. Mash or cube the potatoes depending on the desired consistency for the soup.

In a large soup pot, combine butter and flour to make a roux. Cook for 1 minute, then slowly whisk in the liquids.

Add salt and pepper, potatoes, cooked bacon, and cheese. At the last minute, stir in the sour cream. Season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.

Soup will be thick. Add milk to reheat.

Google potato soup recipes...maybe you'll come across one that sounds like the one your mother made.

You've got to have riffles in any Potato soup.
Beat an egg or two, add a bit of salt and pepper, sprinkle flour into eggs while stirring. Keep adding flour until the mixture looks like it is getting dry. When the rest of the soup is done in the pot, add riffles by the teaspoon and let them cook for about 5 minutes.
Potato soup ain't Potato soup without riffles.

Nowadays it just don't pay to be a good 'ol boy.

I'd give you my grandma's but it always tasted like wax

I think the ol bird used those fake wax taters out of the table setting or something. \:\)

I remember thats how I began to like pepper. That stuff was hotter then McD's coffee, i think on purpose to burn your taste buds so as they wouldn't be able to taste the tastelessness (is that a word??) of her soup.

God I loved my grandma, she was a hoot.

I can't give you a recipe,But this mom and pop store near my house always made home cooked foods for the lunch crowd. They always cooked different meats in a rotisserie[sp].They would take the turkey bones and cook them for the broth. This stock made the best potato soup I have ever had.Dane
