Im thinking about trying to make my own k 9 bait this year. Ive looked through the archives and can find find the info So i figure the best way is to ask. can I just add dobbins bait solution to my meat or do I have to also add an preservative and an anti freeze also ?

Dobbin's is a good one! The preservative comes with it.

Last year was the first season I used Dobbins Bait solution (mixed with cubed beaver). I was very impressed with it.

Mixed mine with ground groundhog. Smells like a winner to me, and the critters seem to like it too!

My next question is are you adding anti freeze to it or does it seem to hold up pretty well in cold weather

the sodium benzate helps with the freeze and it is a real good bait just taint the meat 2 or 3 days to your liking and add solution just follow direction on the bottle simple easy works great

It doesn't hurt to add a bit of glycol to the bait solution for antifreeze. In the colder climates, it may set up. Plus the glycol will inhibit any mold growth.

One pint of bait solution will treat one gallon of meat.

From start to finish, you can have treated bait in around three weeks. The longer it ages, the better it gets....
