I plan on putting up my furs this year so i went out and bought myself a fleshing beam. Now heres my question...Do most you guys mount yours vertical or horizontal? I would love to see some pictures of how yall have yours if possible. Not sure how i want to mount it on my bench

Mine is @ a 45 degree angle. I bend over it. It's hard to change after you start one way.

I remember my dad had his at a 45 degree angle back when i was real young. Shortly after that he got out of trapping so i dont remember how he had his attached to the bench.

Mine is attached to the floor. I made a base and Tap conned it to the concrete. Nice and solid!

I'll let you know in a couple of weeks. I had back surgery last May. My beam is at a 45 right now, but I think I will flatten it out some so I don't have to bend over so much. I don't like the idea of working the knife towards my body, much too dangerous! The first few thousand coon were fleshed on my beam where it's at now, so I'll keep it there unless my back tells me different.

Walker, Once you decide if you want to push or pull while fleshing, horizontally or vertically, pretend that you are going through the motions before mounting the beam on a bench, on a potable floor frame or hinged to a wall and braced in order to find the most comfortable height and angle for your stature.

While saving your back is priority, don't overlook a means of storage while not in use if space is limited in your fur shed.
