Those look super. I love when that red meat is left on. That will give the rat more weight and good leather to tan. Keep it up. Don J.

Is it preferred that the red meat stays on? I haven't caught rats in years.

Jim, you dont need wedges for rats put up on wood. the pelt is small enough with a small rap on the floor the pelt will slide right off. nice pics

Bull hocky. If you want a bunch of ruined rats, put them on boards with out wedges.
You did a great job on your put up.

Those rats look real good to me. Be sure to use a wedge board.

Yep, I'm the preacher who buys fur.

Leave the red meat (saddles) on or you will be graded "paper rats". The job in the photos looks perfect to me. If there is some fat under the saddles you can usually wipe it out of the pelt with paper towels after it dries.

If you dry a rat too quickly you will most diffinitly need a belly board, dry your rat slowly 4-5 maybe even 6 days , they will usually slide off. Steve

TJA,
The fur trade wants the red meat left on in my opinion, you will not get docked but with the red meat left on they will grade better. Just get the fat off. This will sound crazy but I prefer rats a little under fleshed rather than over fleshed. I mean a LITTLE under fleshed. Use a very dull Dexter beaver knife to flesh with, it works great.. Don J.
