I do, I find it really dries up the problem areas and get the blood out of fur...what say you?

I have never heard of using borax. I have used salt. Talk about pricy. Thanks

I do. Cleans them right up and leaves a nice shine on the fur.

canines - dry wash fur with borax, then coat leather side before putting on stretcher. fan dry for 8-12 hours, then turn and let finish drying with fan.

I do. My shed is actually a cellar and its very dry, but warm. SO i sprinkle a little bit in the ears and armpits. I probably dont need to as long as i keep the air circulating i dont need the borax, but i feel better usin it.

i too use it on K9's ears, nose and arm pits.

You just can't start it like a car or stop it with a gun

Heck, I use it on the whole hide... Inside and out....

I start out fleshing and cleaning the hide... I then give it a good shaking in the borax tub... I use one of those 8 gallon plastic tubs - I put it on the board flesh out and leave it until it is ready to turn... I then turn it and put it back in the tub for another good shake and it goes on the board to dry...

Using a fan it cuts the drying time by about 1/2 or better...

After it comes off the board, I pop the pelt several times and it goes on the storage racks, then when it is time to get the fur ready to ship... I blow the fur down really good with an air compressor, blowing the fur from the tail to the head... then brush it.... it works for me....

Good Luck and God Bless you and yours,

bulletbox,
TEXAS

Even sheep are smart enough to shade up when it gets over 100....

Borax also works good as a bug proofing also. Works much better than salt on your turkey fans and beard.

chicken you can use it on the beavers too. sprinkle a little on it before you start fleshing.. dries up the saddle a little and comes off easier.. then when finishing the pelt.. put it in a tub 36" long 8-10" hi and a good scrub brush. coat the hide and scrub.. this will break up any fat that may be in the hair and remove the oils. the hide will then be nice and shiny.. then blow off with compressor.. try it you'll like it..
