How sharp should a fleshing knife be in order to flesh beaver properly?

I have two. One really sharp one and one thats kinda dull. I use both. If your new at this I would recommend one thats on the dull side so you don't put holes in the pelt.

Thanks,
I have been clean skinning, but I wanted to "round out" my beaver fleshing knowledge so I got a beam and a knife. I have found that it seems like I am "squeegy-ing" the fat off of the hide with the fleshing knife rather than shaving or stripping it off.

Is this right or wrong?

Put it in the freezer with fat exposed for 10 to 15 minutes and the fat will coagulate, cooagoolate, coglate, anyway it will stick together and come off much easier.

I use the grizz getr, a one handled fleshing tool and it is very sharp.

On beaver, you need a really sharp knife to shave the center area of the hide, including towards the tail and head. You need a realtively dull knife for the sides and belly area.
