something like 60-40 water to clorox spray it on with a spray bottle let it sit a scond and wipe it off. also you can sometimes scrape the green belly off with a fleshing knife just take it easy dont rip the hide

Do what "tmrschessie" said. Canines are prone to green belly. One thing about the dogs,,,you gotta get on them quick. You have a little time after dispatch. But not much. Obviously the cooler it is the more time you have.Once during a warm spell I had several fox to skin. Wasn't feeling that well that day so took a couple aspirin and fell asleep for about two hours.I went out and started skinning right away after I got up.When I got to the end about the ninth or tenth fox ,,sure enough it had the green belly. It really surprised me since I cool them all on their backs with legs spread off the floor. When I got really thinking about it. I remembered that particular fox was in a snare and dead, So,,,longer time dead coupled with my delay....plus one of the last to skin,,,,,green belly.

cndgmn ,,,I wonder what difference your looking for. I don't think it changes the color. But rather halts the breaking down of the decay process so the fur doesn't slip . "much to-do about nothing",,,,,,,,,i'm not too sure on that one either. Lets say you do nothing and everything is ok....Well that time you may have gotten lucky. But lets say instead of everything turning out ok,,, the fur slips. I think I prefer to have taken a little time to make sure things turn out ok.

The important thing is not letting a fox get too green.Once they've reached a point the damage is already done.Imo too green is too green and all the clorox in the world or a blessing from a Saint ain't going to make a bit of difference.
So instead of the clorox you go straight to the board.Whats the timeframe before the drying process has begun? Not much.
Simply my take,I'll leave it at that.
Have a good one.

Scrape as much off as you can. Then dry it., I rub borox on the green spots. I ahve never had one slip and I had one that was fairly green and stinky...
Most all the ones i get have it. Can you post a picture of it???

If I get a bad one I flesh it and saok it for a couple hours in a salt water mix, rinse, dry and put on a board or freeze if Its a taxi specimen.

I had a couple last year that were green on the belly. I sprayed the belly down with a weak clorox solution and let it dry really well. I sent them to moyles and had them tanned with no problems. I am willing to bet a lot of guys up here get fox with green bellies as they don't run their lines every day, and if a fox curls up in a snare and freezes it still stays pretty warm in the center.

The bleach will also kill the oder. this alone is worth teh extra 30 seconds it takes to spray and wipe down teh skin
