I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with the smell of proprolene glycol affecting their catches.

How exactly is it used at your sets?

I cut it about 50-50 with water and mix it good then spray the trap and bed good, then sift a little dirt about half and spray again then cover and maybe spray another layer on top . Just my to cents.

Stay thirsty my friends.

I add a little coyote pee to it to cover any odd smells don't know if it works or not i only caught one coyote this season and that was right before ground froze. I need some time to make some sets and find out any opinions on what im doing would greatly be appreciated

I think I would do it just like Hal told you over on his site when you asked the same question over there!

I've never known propylene glycol to have an odor...... unless it's old. Then it takes on a glue type smell.

I don't understand the posts disappearing. I had a young fella today say that his post about his first deer disappeared also. I had him repost it and its still there. I'm wondering if there's a glitch in the forums.

The mods move threads to the Moderator's forum if they need to go, and I check them out on there. There was no post about propylene glycol on there that I could find.

Just so we are clear, you guys are using the RV non-tox not the prestone Maple syrup smelling stuff. I had to pull my gear early but would like to know.

I have some pink RV antifreeze that seems odorless to me. But then again, my sense of smell isn't the greatest either. When I stick my nose in there, I can't smell anything. When I mix it with bait that I make, or some urine I had, it still seems to freeze. It does take colder temps to get it to freeze, but still freezes never the less. I would say this happens around 15 F or less. I had muskrat meat I put in a jar of it, and let it sit at room temp for about two days. That will freeze at 15F or so, but the bait I buy, is still the same as if it were 50F. The bottle says it's good till -50F, but doesn't seem to be the case. That's why I ask if the trapping supply stuff is more pure or of better quality, and yes, it says "propolene glycol" right on the side.

TexA, where do you get the "straight stuff"? All I can seem to find is the pink RV antifreeze.
