Hello good people ! i have a quick question!i made myself a swivel maker, nothing fancy but have only used coathanger wire so far! my question is. is that wire strong enuff to hold because my swivels turn out perfect enuff to have a patent, and ive got boocoo coat hangers, just dont wanna waist valuable time on wire that wont hold'em.any feedback will be appreciated.

So they say, no experince to back it up, coathanger wire is very brittle. OK for snare supports where you'll only use it a time or two anyway, and it's not a direct critical link to your caught animal. An answer from a good snareman/snaremaker will be more help than mine.

It would be fine IMO for any coon-sized or smaller critters. Like TexA said though I wouldn't use it for coyotes. Be sure to get plenty or wraps with them though like 6 at least, 3-4 on #9 is ok but lighter wire holds up better with more wraps.

Heck, if them coat hangers will hold up my entire exhaust system on my truck they should hold a coon. lol

i'm using them for mink snare swivels. same here, The Jack, we get rid of hundreds of hangs weekly. such a waste, i cut the staight sections out and leave the rest in the scrap bin.

No, i would NOT use coat hanger wire for swivels. A Coyote will stretch it all out and be gone.

Use some #9 wire at least.
Black works ok but Galvanized is even stronger.

Most people use #9 Galvanized for their Clothes Line Wire...

A ten-pound hoop of it will cost you about 10-12 bucks and it will make one heck of a pile of swivels. I use about 10 to 11-inches of wire for each swivel. They are good and strong!
where do ya get a ten pound hoop for 12 bucks??
