When today I sold some furs and the buyer told me he burned the fat in his woodstove in the corner....I didn't believe him till I saw him take a coal shovel full and thrown it in the fire....it was like throwing kersone in there...burned hot...anybody else do this and does it gum up your chimney?

By the way, he said whole grinners burned good too but "stink a little".

Lol. I think I'll stick to pellets. Not a bad idea though.

I'll throw about a hand full in when I need to build the heat back up. I wouldn't burn it all by itself though, too hot.

A "half truth" is still a whole lie.

Exactly, it burns extremely hot and does put a layer of material in the chimney, not like creosote but more like a black, greasy film. Its awesome for getting a fire started.

I do once in a while when it is realy cold outside. It makes the neighborhood smell kind of odd though.

LMAO! More like we would start importing chinese coons because it's less harmful to our environment. But I love the idea. Coon fat for every american home!!!!

Someone just has to figure the btu's and we're in business. If they can sell Shamwow's on tv we can sell "Coon in a can heat".
forget the sturno or small bottles of propane.
If anyone wants to start cornering the carcass coon market. 1st 50$ a carcass takes mine:)

I have been doing this for years. Be carefull not to over do it. I put about one coons worth of scraps in at a time. I put to much in a few years ago and it blew the door on the stove open and looked like a flame thrower comeing out. It will for sure heat up a fur shed FAST!! It dont smell bad at all. My son came out one time and asked what I was cooking on the grill?

Great firestarter fuel for wet wood. Get some cardboard burning, add wood and pour on fat. It will burn. Use some moderation like stated.

I burn it. Wasn't it Robert Duvall that said " I love the smell of burning coon fat in the morning!" Smells like victory!"

we burn all the coon fat we have.
after the fire gets going we throw a little on it and ya got some good heat fast.works great getting green wood going.
we got to be careful not to put in too much at a time because if we do it runs out of the front of the stove and its crappy trying to clean it up, lol.

it creeps out like lava out of a volcano,on fire and everything, lol.
