Getting ready to baseplate my traps and trying to get the J-hooks off. What's the easiest way to remove them from the trap? Having a hard time. Thanks

Wire cutters. Squeeze between j hook and pull up. Works great.

Thanks for all the input. I'm tossing them as I get them off and putting new ones on after the mods are done.

Good advice! I seldom ever reuse a j hook. Just too cheap not to!

im not sure theres a coyote strong enough to break even a weakend j-hook. if its THAT weekend, it will break during the opening or closing action.

but then again, im a tightwad.

I use klien wire crimpers to open and close them. No more than you have open one I believe it would take several open and closings to weaken them to they are of no use

Open and close enough of them upon inspection you'll notice light stress cracks in a few. Not sure what percentage. Strong, probably so. Worth taking the chance? Probably not.

High dollar "steel" deserves a couple ten cent J hooks!

Use cable cutters if you have them. Works like a charm. Pinch in between where the end of the hook touches the bottom part.

Fresh circle in the morning, nothing better.

With Bob Custers J hooks, 10 cents each just became 2 cents each, and they work great.
