I thought I had read that lovage was used in some lures.

How is it harvested and processed, and what critters is it used for.

I have access to a large amount of it (a bushel or two), and wondered if I should bother to do anything with it.

I have tested dry powder in canine lures and found a good response. Many of the old time formulas used lovage and touted it as a passion ingredient to enhance matrix type lures. I believe it is in the carrot family and was used in the past for medicinal purposes, I don't know what purpose. Ace

I use lovage oil in the liquid form in one of my canine lures and I like what it did for the lure. I also heard it was a passion ingredient.

I believe it is a member of the celery family.

Just out of curiosity I looked up Lovage in my dictionary it reads: "European herb of the carrot family, cultivated in old gardens as a domestic remedy".

LOL, ASA, I did an online search and it said it was in the celery family. It doesn't really matter, as long as it works.

They sure do like it Asa, and its definitely has it's place in some lure formulations.

Back to part of the original question on how its processed.

I'm not sure if the oil is produced in a masuration process or distilation.

Asa mentioned it being in powder form, so I'm not sure how they'd get it in powder form.

It was pretty cool to come back to my lure question, and find the two of you discussing it.

I have used it as a spice/herb in cooking, it's similar to cilantro, but hotter... sorta like celery but not as wet or as green tasting, and even a little like parsley but brighter.

Well this fall I won't just let it die back, I'll start pickin' at it now, and by fall I'll have more than I'll ever need.

what does it mean when its a passion ingredint? i have heard this term used alot but have no real idea what it is..is it called that because of the responce the animal has?
