you should just set your conibears with rope...loop the rope a few times through the eyes of the springs and pull, set safey hooks and good to go....you can always carry a bunch of rope....for me this is easier than the scissors type setters

I paint them orange but today I had them in a bag on the back of the machine not towing a sled due to all the water and the dang bag didn't get zipped good. They are out behind the house in a mile long stretch problem is too much snow and yuk and they sunk someplace. I had the two prs I got now for several yrs when I had a bunch I got careless when I got down to two I started taking care of them again. These were in pretty bad shape they were the cheapies made by victor and bent out of shape so I didn't feel too bad about there disappearance. White17 if I was as far out as you I doubt I would loose much either not very easy to run to the local hardware store and pick up a new roll of wire or pliers

i had 45 above in the matsu ...had to pull half my line and was running my machine in 10 to 12 inches of water on top of ice to get to my sets..doesn't look like i'll be able to get back out to those spots later...last year i left them out there and it was hit and miss until the end march...gonna have to find some where to trap on dry land i guess

I set with rope today or a strap actually I hate it takes too long for me I set a lot with my hands but new conis are more of a struggle and once again I opt for the faster methods. Family Trapper I find a lot of my trapping hand tools at yard sales in the summer and tend to stock up beats paying the full price at the store

I know I wanted it to warm up, but not this warm! This is the main crossing for two of my lines! 2 feet of over flow in one day

Left a pair of compact zies glasses on a sheep kill once and didn't realize it till I was 18 miles away. Probably still there. For some reason I haven't lost any trap gear yet. Still 38 degrees and still raining. Could this be the revenge of the Goreoracle to us infidels?

I too have the caulking gun type setter and love it, having had all the other types. It does get a little ice in it sometimes, but the snogo fan takes care of that quick. I made my own after seeing pictures of the commercial model. I do carry a piece of smooth stout rope in my pocket for untrapping myself from 330's.
Picked up my first marten in almost 30 years Friday! Had just been caught, tracks in the snow which had just stopped falling!
Didn't have to battle any overflow, but did decide the next snogo needs at LEAST a 144" track, or a widetrack. Snow was 2' + and consistency of cookie dough. Took 9 gallons for 65 mile round trip.
