Hi Guys,
I have been a member of trapperman for a while but this is my first post. I was born here (AK) and have always enjoyed the outdoors (hunting, fishing, etc). Now I am raising my family here. I wanted to get my kids involved and figured trapping was a good route to take. You guys have really helped me accomplish that. I do appreciate it.
With help from you guys, my kids (9, 7 and almost 5) have been trapping for three years now. They, as well as myself, have had the opportunity to trap ermine, squirrel, hare, marten, beaver and otter. I have been quite on here, my ears were open and my mouth shut, because I really haven’t had much to contribute. I figured I had been here long enough, that at minimum, I should say Thanks!
You have all been a great help.

Thanks Guys!
Here is a test run for a picture. This was two days ago. My oldest(9) and I snowshoed around, got a couple bunnies and made 5 cubbies sets for lynx. (never got a lynx before) If this works I will try to post some more later tonight.

Well I have some bad luck when it comes to moose/(wolf) break aways I have been losing two or more each season. Was looking forward to the use of the snare the Craig designed since he said at the time there had been over 70 some wolves caught without a release. Bought six dozen last year had most over bait and ended up catching in older snares not one of these until a week ago. Here is the snare. It looked like after working on a long swing for a while the wolf tangled up tight and low the the base of a tree then was able to push up and pop the ferrule. By the location of the chewing on the cable it looks to be a good neck catch and it was anchored chest high. I believe the lock was up against the ferrule which reduces the breaking point by about 100lbs. Nothing more disappointing that walking up to a catch circle with nothing in it.

Also, when I was talking to one of the wolfer's that was doing some of the work on break away's, he said they are junk. This was just a month ago. He would not use them. He is using the stinger springs though, so I am going to have to take a look at that.

Just my opinion, but I never have liked the ferrels or S hooks for a breakaway. I think the cut lock is the cleanest and most consistent.
I WOULD like to see the locks for the 3/32 made of the same thickness of
metal as the locks for the 7/64ths, or at least experimented with. And
maybe it has been, but I've never heard of it. But a slightly heavier lock
for the 3/32 on wolves would be favorable I think.

There are a few people up here that use argos like that. But you have to remember that moose is a canadian moose not a moose from alaska. You might be able to get away with that with a spike fork up here but not a real moose

What'd they do with that moose's body? Looks like they chopped it off at the shoulders & stuffed the mount in the back of the Argo...

Did someone say they wanted to buy an Argo? Mine is in excellent shape as it hasn't been out of the garage in five years. I find it breaks less if I leave it there.
