If it happens early in the season, before I get all cat crazy I might of also.
they are pretty funny to watch, run and slide on there belly on level ground smile
hopefully otter prices rebound again to what they were a few years ago,and I will be trapping them again, they were my bread and butter a few years back, before the cats came on.

I always hate driving down the line following tracks knowing there is a set coming up and then seeing this:

As a side note, picked up a cat in a snare this trip that was still alive, but was caught in front of the front legs and further down on the back. I would have expected it to try and pull back out and have brought the snare forward to the neck area at least. Instead, it was sitting there waiting for us:

River locked up again this morning but it didn't take long for the otters to find a hole. Couldn't figure out why my feet were numb when I was out on the deck taking these photos till I checked that the wind chill was -47.

Here is a picture of a lynx family taken just off the edge of my trapping area. It was taken by a cross country skier.

ran into about 5-6 one winter... had just snowed so i took a ride since it was warm. saw something running in the corner of my eye so i checked and sure enuff an otter was running a trail that other 5 were taking. shot the loner then tracked the others into a frozen pond. rounded them up and got them all. traded couple for a rifle.

Wow Jeff, those otters sure look cool to see running around. I only saw them swimming on the Yukon River mid summer, I did see one munching out on blackfish which was pretty cool. Yes, I shot'em and he's dried now.
Bob, that is strange how that freezes, thaws and breaks like that frown

Dam, sorry white I missed that injury posting. Sorry to hear, couldn't have been too good for knees either. Wishing you a speedy recovery and keep us posted. Healing at our age is sometimes a slowwwwwer process also.
OB you have to split all the wood and carry the water now ....oops forgot you do that already. smile

I'm thinking of incorporating the leg episode as part of the Wife School classes.
