LOL do you know the season for NE? I can't find it. Ummm......No. Didn't get around to memorizing other state's trapping regulations this year. Had a few other things going on. LOL - now that is about as honest as a guy can be right there!!

What would you guys reccomend as the most basic coon set? A Duke Dp. Bait it, set it and stake it. It that easy. You can set 10 Dps up faster than most can dig out a trap bed. They are great for road trapping.

Has anyone tried melted butter for a trailing scent? Been testing it out at local creeks and it seems to get coons to travel where you want them.

You can, might even make it better! Don't know if it is better than fish oil, but it is cheap! Melt it in the sun, put in a shampoo bottle, and give it a try. Never hurts to try somthing new.

I always reset those "tore up" areas. It doesn't seem to have any adverse affects to the next one that walks down the creek. I am almost aways setting blind sets on creeks. If there was a reason for me to put a trap there in the first place, that reason is probably still there after a catch.

I'm only just getting started in reading this post, but wanted to thank everyone who participated in it. And to bring it back to the top for anyone who may have missed this. I certainly hope this post ends up in the archives, it's a wealth of information!
Just give me one thing, that I can hold on to. To believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go.

This set here produced 5 nice big coon, all weighing in at 28-30 lbs. Where are the skulls of the 30 pounders? PM me if you want to sell some.
