Not sure if they still make them but the " Jiffy setter" really works well, especially when taking a critter out. Just step on the foot pad and pull up. Works great for me. Tom

If you have any experience with metalworking, you should be able to make your own pair without any difficulty and at a lower price than ones you'd buy.

The #4 sleepy creek is great it wont slip off the jawsif you hook it to the eyes of the springs. THe best thing is its super light.

I use the style pictured above prefer the heavy duty ones sold by Sterling Fur & Tool they dont slip much Paint them a bright color I got 7 prs in a trap deal 3 yrs ago and gave two away only have two left I elave them here and there and never seem to find them. BMI 220s are one stout little trap and I am talking the reg not Mags I love them for otter. A guy could make a little latch with a blot and piece of metal to hold the setter shut once the spring is compressed I just hold in one hand and flip the safties

The Beav is right. A piece of rope or chain is fine for setting an empty trap, but when it's holding a great big beaver or otter the trap setters make life on the trapline a whole lot easier.

It takes 43 muscles to frown, 17 to smile, but only 3 for a proper trigger squeeze.
