I like the sleepy creek 4.5's also. Just getting tougher to source them. I'm gonna experiment with making some bigger longsprings (8.5-9" spread)

I want to really like them, because I like longsprings. But as a wolf trap they are a pretty good dry ground trap. I was hoping to use them in the snow, because longsprings don't have as many issues with freezing down as coilsprings, but they just don't come up through the crust well enough. Plus the jawspread won't reach up through as much snow as a larger trap. They are built like a tank though, no mods necessary. Although I remove that big wolf swivel from directly under them and replace it with smaller crunchproof to facilitate bedding.

I'm 65 so yes I still use double long springs. Number 4s on beaver and number 2s in blind water sets on downers. No mods. For the price of conversion I just buy coil springs if I add traps.
