I pin the ears forward (not necessary, but the skins stack nicer and it shows a bit more fur).

Now I blow the fur with compressed air (or a ShopVac on reverse) to make sure everything is in order and to make the hair stand up as much as possible.

There is the cat ready for drying.

To follow up on the discussion about that first incision down the "color line," if you look at this cat, there is very little brown showing at the base of the belly. That's because I cut into the white portion of the belly slightly, and then pulled the inside rear leg skin to the center board and pinned it so that it appears to be part of the belly. On the other hand, if I had cut along the color line, there would be a brown stain down the center of the lower belly which would have detracted from the white belly appearance. Minor stuff, I know.

Cameron2 - what an awesome post!! I hope this becomes archived before it gets torn up with a bunch of nonsense! Thanks for taking the time and putting all this together.

Perhaps one of the mod's could combine these three parts into one and make this a sticky in the archives?

Great post!

Most excellent, all 3 parts, thank you!
