i went out to see how the seng looks ....in my area of central il it looks bad........it's wilted something awful and the leaves have started falling off.

even the goldenseal is all laid over.

if we get some very heavy rain the seng will be quite difficult to find this year because the rain could very well knock down whats left.

Getting real bad around here to. The temps have been at 100 for yesterday and today and getting close to that saturday. Nothing will stop the damage on seng now. If it is wilted and drooping, then it will more than likely be gone within a couple weeks or sooner. Rain will be your worst enemy now, even though you think we need it and we do. Rain will knock the dang plants right down once they get wilted and start drying out. I have seen years that seng would actually dry out green. The goldenseal has also had it.

Found a little bit of Seng today. I could only find it because I knew exactly where it was. It was wilted something horrible.

Seng is spotty in my area. Some places is good, some are terrible. Depends on if the woods had a rain or two fall on it that other areas didn't get. Funny thing is, I have one big farm that I hunt that the woods are in good shape, but the seng is rather scarce in the woods. I find about 40 pieces each morning I hunt. To me, that is very poor seng hunting. Good hunting mornings will often produce 2 lbs. of seng and on super good hunts 4lbs or better. Average hunting days will produce about 1 lb in a 4 hour hunt. The bigger numbers are durring good hunting years. My son and his friend found 4 lb. monday in about 6 hour hunt.
