I weighed a batch I had once right after getting it cleaned up and weighed it again after it had dried good. It had lost 67% of it's weight.

Jim that is real old root. Might not hurt to wash it a little better. You don't want it clean but you also don't want the root to look like dirt on the outside. You want the dirt in the rings but not all over the skin so it has a total brownish or grayish look to it.
