I have come to the conclusion that trapping with cows is not worth the effort of remaking. And whatever you do do NOT use cow bones as visual attractors, makes them real mad.

Get a friend and set your traps incognito. This would be within CharlesKS expertise I believe.

When i set in cow pastures ,after i make my set i walk a distence away and pretend to make another set, maybe turn up a log or some dirt while the cows are watcthing me.Since cows dont have good memories they forget your first set and go to your fake set.I heard this a long time ago and tried it after a cow stepped on my set, havent had any trouble since. But good luck after u make a catch, the cows will propblably stomp your catch to pieces.

If you catch a coyote in that pasture do you think the cows will trample it to past?

I've trapped with cows and It sucks. I have learned a few things. One thing is NEVER use gland lure. They will stomp the set to peices along with your trap. Use very little urine. Also when you can set under trees with overhanging branchs, tights fence corners, brush, ect. Another thing. Ask the owner if you can fence off a small spot. Only like 3-5 sq. feet.
While checking stay atleast 15 feet away when checking and don't slow down unless you have something or have a snapped trap. And if helps if you set and check them in lowlight hours.

Ya just gotta be smarter than the cattle; - may be hard for ya!
Are you a member of the SCTA?
I trap almost 80% active cattle land. I have very few problems outa cattle but I've also grown up raising them an know their ways.
Cattle will harass caught critters and yes fight them. I've never had a dead critter due to cattle but it could happen tomorrow.

Way back when, this topic came up, and someone posted some stuff about making sets inside of tires in the cow pastures.
Oops, too late. Already covered.

Tom Beaudette makes a lure called "No Stock" I have used it with a LOT of success.
