have any of you used a wooden box, similar to a weasel box, for squirrel?
larger hole, hole at both ends and some sort of dispatch trap in the box.
fox and greys would be targeted.

i have a couple of sons who are aspiring woodworkers. they could turn out a few 8x8x24 boxes in no time flat. they have already made too many weasel and rabbit boxes

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

I build and hang wood duck boxes almost every winter and plain to get into pine marten boxes , squirrels do some times take them over ,also when I'm fur trapping for coon i use 220 dog proof kill box . This box is 32" long and has two traps . If I use corn for bait I can't keep the squirrels out of these traps , the box could be down sized for 120 conibears and would be hard to catch no target animals, there's no need for a hole , I would leave it open and place a board across the face to down size the opening and make slits in the box so the conibears sit back in the box

I've used regular 120 coni boxes on squirrels with good results.

Squirrel boxes are commonly used in my area. trap of choice is anything from a #55 or #60 to #110 and even #120. The ones I have experience with are just a wooden box with slots for the springs,no hole to climb throuh, open front and back. Place Bait in center and gaurd each end with a coni. make sure to secure properly. Check your local game laws, not long ago it was illegal to use them here, that law has recently been revised. Be careful because nontargets are possible with this set.....

A nice thing about wood boxes is they can keep nosy neighbors from seeing what's in the box
